Ken Cooper

Ken came to West E. Free from Nebraska as our Senior Pastor in 1999. God made the call to Wichita so clear the Cooper teenagers who had lived in the same town and house for 16 years said, “Dad, we don’t want to go, but if we don’t, we’re disobeying God.” A graduate of Dallas Seminary with a Masters in Theology and Doctorate in Ministry, God has gifted Ken in preaching and applying Scriptural principles to everyday life.

Ken and Cathy are currently "empty nesters" since their oldest three children (Catie and husband, Matt, Casey and wife, Jackie, and Cody) are employed elsewhere, and Collin is at K. State. They are all passionate water-skiers and greatly value any time they get to spend together!

Ken loves to share a favorite family story about one of his favorite verses, Philippians 4:6-7. "Our small group 'happened' to be memorizing those verses the week we were waiting until our six-month old son could have a surgery to remove what the doctors were confident was a cancerous tumor. We prayed and cried a lot that week and surrendered our son to God. The tumor was not cancerous. The lab couldn’t figure out what it was. We can’t say for sure, but suspect it was a miracle and labs can’t test for those very well."

The list of what Ken loves about WEFC is significant: "Our mission and calling. The pastors and the team we form. The great relationship between pastors and elders. The people of all ages that are part of this church. God has blessed us with great people, great unity and a great calling." And God has blessed us with the Coopers as well!
